Family Style Meals at Coddington
Coddington Road Community Center menus are now available online! We just posted the new breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack menus for February 2018. A healthy breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack is included in our tuition rates for infant, toddler and preschool care. Students attending our afterschool program receive snack.
Did you know that our infant, toddler and preschool programs all practice family style eating? Family style meals are when the children and adults serve food themselves and share a meal together, which allows for conversation and active listening.
This meal-style practice has many benefits, some of which you can read about in this article titled “Family Style Meals at Daycare, Preschool Encourage Healthy Eating.”
All of our classrooms practice family style meals in which children and adults share a meal together and serve food themselves. This practice has many benefits and you can learn more in this article:

Coddington Road Community Center Newsletter – Bear Room
If you picked up a copy of our October 2017 Coddington newsletter, you may be looking for more information on what the Bear Room was up to! They had so much excitement during the month of October that we couldn’t fit it all into our newsletter. Here is their full classroom write-up.
This past month in the Bear Room the children have been working quite hard and we are very proud of them. They have been developing close friendships and learning how to be bucket fillers towards everybody. A bucket filler is someone who is a helper and is always trying to spread the feeling of happiness around them. We have been working hard at establishing routines in our everyday schedule and the children have taken ownership of them.
We have had many amazing experiences including watching a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis and setting it free, creating our very own lean-to in our classroom, going on nature hikes and learning about what happens in the Fall season, making bread (which was delicious) and creating our very own pumpkin art!
One of our favorite topics we have focused on has been family. Each child has been sharing special things about their family all month. It has been a treat to learn so much about each other. We are going to start to focus on the topic of “Community” in November and the children will learn how each of our families are connected to one another.
We will continue to have scholastic books available to order. We will have information in the cubbies when the next batch of order sheets are ready. We look forward to all of the new experiences we will have together!
Thank you – Karen, Lisa & Ashley!
