Building Community

Building Community at Coddington is a $4.8 million project with a campaign goal of $1.6 million. Coddington intends to expand our current facility with construction of an addition that will include new classroom spaces for childcare, afterschool and community use as well as gym space, office space, storage, a commercial kitchen and many ADA, code and safety improvements.

More room for young children.

Our childcare will add up to three additional classrooms allowing us to provide care for up to 48 additional children between the ages of 8 weeks to 5 years. The new gym will also provide plenty of space for large motor play, especially during cold winter months. New meeting spaces will provide privacy for children receiving on-site therapy and families who would like to meet with their child’s teacher.

More room for youth.

Afterschool capacity will double in size as well. We are adding a dedicated space for homework mentoring and plenty of regular gym time. Our Camp Coddington program will also see change with the addition of permanent bathrooms accessible from the outside, finished trails for hiking and more.

More room for the community.

Coddington will return to our roots and begin offering a regular menu of community programming, just as we did when our center originally opened in 1949. Open meeting space, a commercial kitchen for special events, open times for hiking and relaxing in nature.

Dear Fellow Business Owner,

A little less than 10 years ago, Coddington began to reflect on our place in the community: our history, our programming, our impact and our future. After years of careful planning, several small steps and a huge pandemic interruption, we are THRILLED to announce that we will FINALLY be expanding our center and programming! Today I am reaching out to you, our partners in business, to ask for your support of this project so that we can continue our tradition of adapting to meet the needs of the community. With your support we can reach our goal.

Quality, affordable childcare is vital to maintaining a productive community and a stable workforce. The majority of Tompkins County has been classified as a childcare desert with 6 or more children per available space. As the community continues to recover from the pandemic an immediate increase in childcare supply will be needed in order to support businesses with attracting and retaining employees. Economic stability and growth is dependent on meeting the needs of working parents as well as promoting the healthy development of young children.

As a non-profit, we are always looking to keep our program fees as affordable as we can. Your support will help us fund this $4.8 million project, while maintaining our ability to offer scholarships and assistance to all enrolled families with financial needs. Once in our new space, we will expand our childcare, adding up to 48 additional slots for children infancy through age five, 20 additional slots for school age children and a variety of new and expanded community interest programs. Our yearlong campaign, Building Community at Coddington, includes an online fundraising page for individual donations and two premier events to celebrate our project and raise critical funding. We invite you to participate in this project as a sponsor and as a thank you for your support of our project we have several advertising opportunities available depending on sponsorship level chosen.

For additional information on sponsorship, please email Executive Director, Heather Mount, at crccdirector@coddingtonroad.org or call (607) 277-1434. We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if you would like to schedule a private visit to view our plans and property.
