Junior Counselor Program
The Junior CIT program is an unpaid internship program for youth age 14 and up who have previously attended at least one year of Camp Coddington. In order to participate in this program, campers need to be enrolled in camp during week 3 when we will complete the orientation and training program for all youth employees. Upon completion, youth will have the opportunity to shadow a counselor throughout the day and assist with leading some group activities each afternoon. Due to the age of participants in this program, the youth need to be registered as campers, however we are offering a 50% discount on camp tuition for weeks that the youth participate in the Junior CIT program (including the training week). For more information or to request an application, please fill out the attached info sheet and return it no later than May 26th.
Camp Coddington is known for our successful CIT programs. The CIT Program is open to teens at least fifteen years old with prior experience attending a summer camp who are interested in learning leadership and job skills. The opportunity is a fun-filled first employment experience. We focus on development of skills relating to being a camp counselor, teamwork, effective communication, problem-solving techniques, volunteering, applying and interviewing, and professional development.
The program includes regularly scheduled workshops, shadowing senior counselors, and leading planned activities. All CITs are required to work as scheduled, participate in the training program, and adhere to a job description and directives from the Camp Director.
The CIT program requires a minimum two-week commitment during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of July, with a schedule from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. CITs are responsible for bringing their own lunch.
