Childcare Program

2022 September - Preschool Playing Outside (7)Our facility includes a fenced-in, shady playground, a ball field and picnic pavilions, in addition to our classrooms. Childcare is available Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, year-round, except for standard closings found on the CRCC Calendar. We offer full- and part-time care, with M/W/F or T/Th options and pick-up times at 2:00pm and 5:30pm.

Starting September 2017, Coddington began to offer care for all children, infants (8 weeks) and older. Since its creation, CRCC has grown to meet the needs and interests of the community. Infant care is a high need in the Ithaca area and we are pleased to be able to now offer care for children of all ages and each of our classrooms will utilize the 3-teacher model.

Philosophy

Coddington Road Community Center - Infant Classroom Playing OutsideCoddington’s childcare program promotes daily learning by allowing children to express themselves through play.  We believe children are natural scientists who question, observe, and imitate the world around them turning concepts and ideas into tangible structures, expressions, and experiences.

Our teachers guide the children by observing them play, listening to their ideas, and giving them the opportunity to follow through with the detail of their visions. Teachers continually engage in dialogue and assessment, based on the happenings of the classroom among themselves. It is then that the curriculum is created and implemented to promote each individual child’s social, emotional, physical language and cognitive development.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are prepared by the Coddington Road Community Center’s cook. monthly menus are posted outside the classroom and online. If your child has special dietary restrictions, we ensure menu substitutions. We participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a federal program that provides guidance and regulations for nutrition content related to our meal service.  The cost of breakfast, lunch and snack each day is included in the center tuition.

During meal time, children sit at classroom tables with their teachers, serve themselves “family style,” and use the time for developing fine motor skills, pleasant conversation, learning about new foods, and practicing good manners.
