Welcome :: Summer Camp

Philosophy
Coddington is an outdoor summer camp that promotes a family type atmosphere with children of different ages mixing for activities based on interest and choice. We provide a schedule of structured activities in a wide variety of areas as well as allowing children to participate in self directed play within supervised boundaries. Offering preplanned choices as well as encouraging and supporting imaginative play and creativity is our way of keeping summer fun and adventurous!
Overview
The camp is inspected and permitted by the Tompkins County Health Department. Children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to enroll. Our campers are assigned by age to a campsite at one of our outdoor pavilions. The sites are used for roll calls, snack, shelter and special site meetings or activities. Each site will have a senior counselor and other counselors that will be specifically responsible for the children assigned to their site. They will guide them, care for them, help them to choose activities, be involved and make new friends. Staff will be supervised by the Camp Director. Our camp is an outdoor program that uses pavilions and tent sites for shelter. An activity schedule will be posted daily at the sign-in station for parents and children to review. There will be several activities scheduled at a time and choices will include; arts & crafts, field games, sports, woodland hikes, adventures, table games, campfires and special projects. We also offer swim trips to Cass Park twice a week. Special interest clubs such as cooking, drama, dance, nature and art will also be offered. Throughout the summer there will also be special guests, projects, events and different themes that will keep camp fresh and exciting each week!
Counselor-in-Training Program
The CIT Program is open to teens who are interested in learning leadership and job skills. The training will be a fun-filled way of exploring basic job skills. We will focus on specific skills relating to becoming a camp counselor, teambuilding, communication, and volunteering. The morning will include a workshop period as well as time assigned to a senior counselor who will guide them in helping to carry out the activities and tasks for their group. Successful CIT's will attend regularly, earnestly participate in the instruction program and follow the guidelines presented by the Director. The CIT program requires a four week commitment of two, 2-week sessions that run from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. The CIT may arrive anytime after 7:30 am but must arrive by 8:45. Morning snack is included. CIT may bring a lunch if desired. The fee for the four week CIT program is $220. Extended camp days and additional camp weeks are available. CIT applicants must be at least 13 years or entering 8th grade.
